Fabric for inside of laptop sleeve?

Is felted fabric soft and gentle enough to use on the inside of a laptop sleeve? I want to make one out of materials I have on hand, though I know maybe batting or something like that would be better. I just received a macbook for christmas and I want to keep it protected while carrying it around in other bags.

Felt would be better than a cotton batting that will produce lint. Most computer sleeves/cases are lined with nylon or some other "slick" fabric.
